Description
DESCRIPTION
The product has a horizontal pipe that includes a Venturi meter, orifice plate and pressure tappings. An elbow connects the pipe to a rotameter (gap-type flow meter) with further pressure tappings. The pressure tappings are connected to manometers held on a vertical panel behind the pipe work. The manometers measure and show pressure distribution against a calibrated scale. To perform experiments, students connect the product to the hydraulic bench supply, and set it to a low, steady flow through the apparatus.
Water from the bench then flows through the Venturi meter, through a sudden enlargement, a settling length and the orifice plate. It then flows around the elbow, through the rotameter, then a flow control valve, finally returning to the hydraulic bench. The control valve is downstream, so it does not cause any upstream turbulence.
To adjust the water level in the manometer tubes, students connect a hand-pump (included) to the valve above the manometer tubes.
Detailed Specifications
The apparatus consists of :
- A Centrifugal pump of 25mm x 25mm with 1/2 HP Motor (ISI – Kirloskar Make)
- S. Sump Tank 80 Ltr. to collect the water.
- S. Measuring Tank 30Ltr fitted with piezometer tube to measure the discharge. Damper is used to collect the water in M.S. MEASURING TANK for certain time.
- I. pipe of internal dia 25mm and Gunmetal ISI mark Control Valve and regulating valves are used to circulate water.
- Bye-pass line is also used to regulate the discharge. This apparatus consists of metallic/venturimeter. The openings from inlet and throat are connected to U tube mercury manometer to measure the head difference. The tanks are well FRC fiber coated insided to prevent rust hence increase the life of tank.
